This sounds great, it's the GB Podium Squad or whatever it's called taking on an England Squad, Wales Squad and a Scottish Squad. Takes place over two days with semis on 12th November and finals on 13th November. Venue is the Echo Arena

Buncey mentioned something about the BBC showing it. Live or delayed, I'm not so sure about.

The women boxer's will also be having a tournament on the same days, they only have 3 Olympic weightclasses though.

Those people you listed, they're the ones who will fight the boxers who are currently in the podium squad and then if they win they take their place? I don't understand, aren't they all being considered anyway? Why do they need this one fight to be considered? If they lose, they won't be considered? Bit harsh... I really don't understand.

The Podium Squad is like the first choice. These boxers listed, plus fighters from Wales and Scotland will get a chance to prove themselves against the Podium Squad.

If they win they won't take there place but they will join the podium squad - there's two fighters at some weights on the podium squad. It's all about increasing the competition for places, making sure the podium squad don't get too confident and assume they will be first choice once Olympic qualification comes round.

It's a good idea I think because in previous years some good fighters have being frozen out of the GB setup. Now people from the outside who've proved themselves by winning the ABAs are getting an opportunity. Remember Joe Gallagher was on here saying Hosea Burton keeps getting overlooked by the GB selectors, well he now has a chance to prove his worth.

The Fowler Smith rivalry is one thats going to run and run and run right into the pro ranks. The Smiths have pedigree but i think fowler has a style very suited to the pro game

BBC should definitely show it, they have shown a fair bit of the commonwealths and whenever they are questioned on their lack of coverage for pro boxing, they always say that they are focusing on the amateur level.
also its a good way to get some of the guys better known before the olympics, who knows- if GB do well in 2012, the BBC may dip its toe back in to boxing...?we can hope

I will have the details on this during the show on Thursday night - I've been banging on about this for two months. Sadly, the Haye fight has kiboshed the event to a degree. The BBC will cover. I will have more details tomorrow night.

    Adios.
