GB prez "TopRank has NOT contacted us about Linares! Bob already has Moises/Beltran winner lined up!

I've got to admit it does look like TR is waiting for the outcome of the Beltran fight... Why are they doing it — that's another question. Maybe they just want to improve their negotiation position (to have that Loma-Beltran bout as an alternate option).

 

Maybe, but, after all, is it smart to start at a heavier category fighting Linares right away..?

 

Loma hides behind Bobs skirts

 

It would be not fair to say so, no. As I see it, Loma is quite genuinely fixed on Linares. It seems like Arum is feeding him some bull**it, though...
Bob Arum is definitely not a fan of this fight for a couple of reasons:
a) Beltran is a TR fighter as well, he's old and not important as a strategic asset. And, if he becomes a champion, that's an easy fight to make, all the money would remain "in the house", and Loma may even become a chamption (not bad at all, isn't it?);
b) Linares is a champion too, but he's dangerous, Bob is too smart not to understand it. Also, so many issues with money, TV networks, etc.

So, it seems like he genuinely believes the contract has been already sent to Linares. And that's definitely not the case, as we all understand now... Also, let's not forget that Loma is in Ukraine now, and his information sources are quite limited and it's actually quite easy to fool him a little bit in a situation like this.

I hate this posturing and ‘negotiation’ through the media. I keep hearing promoters say if the other promoter to call them if they want to make the fight. Ok, then. Well, GPB, if TR hasn’t called you, I ask do you want this fight made? How bout’ YOU pick up then phone and give them a call. All these promoters acting like shook schoolboys scared to make s damn phone call.

Just using this specific example, not pro TR or GBP. It’s s dynamic and quote I’ve been hearing s lot these days. Just feel,it’s a lame cop out to act like you want a fight but claim it’s not happening because your phone didn’t ring. Phones work both ways, calls can be incoming AND outgoing. Be proactive if you want to make something happen.

Or is Ray Beltrán now fighting this guy: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/521817 - because I don't really know of another pro boxer named "Moises" in this weight range besides the Iron Duck?

 

Arum can't keep Loma from Linares. What he can do however, is delay the fight in favor of an in house fight for a belt under the guise of weight class accommodation. I say guise but honestly it is a solid reason. People tend to just hold Loma to a higher standard.
