    OK, let's get a few things clear. The Europeans happen every two years. Since 1961 I think that only one Irish and and I know that only one British boxer has won a gold. There have been a few other medals. It's hard, so don't expect miracles.
    If the Irish, English, Welsh and Scottish squads come back with any medal it will be terrific. If the English squad comes back empty handed then it has NOTHING to do with selection so let's be sensible.

    Surprised Campbell wasn't going. Liked the look of Obed Mbwakongo at the ABA's a couple of years ago, seemed heavy-handed aswell.

    your 100% right buncey the europeans is one mother fecking tough tournament and if anyone comes home with a medal its a major major achievement!!! i remember a certain andy lee saying that the europeans are harder than the worlds because there are no easy fights!

    We actually took three medals (all bronze) home from Liverpool nothing in the previous, Lee got a bronze in Croatia before that (monstering Darren Barker on the way :hey ) which was the first medal we hauled since Brian Magee took a silver in Minsk.

    Our last gold was Paul Griffin in 1991 - he also got a bronze in the next tournie.

    p.s. RTÉ (Ireland's BBC) have bought the rights to this years Euros and will probably (hopefully show the Irish fights and the finals. AIBA usually have a free live stream in countries where no TV right have been purchased. :good

    thought it was a silver ?? i had a few drinks with him a few times he is a freind of a freind sound chap he is , he didnt really live up to his potential in the pros unfortunatley
