Should the unthinkable happen and Tez ends up like she did when fighting Alycia Bum, she should be made to wear a Celtic hat and planted in the nearest corner flag section.
That has to be the worst ever televised main event in this country without a shadow of a doubt. Both fighters were terrible.
It was ironically, a terrific night of boxing until the last two bouts. Shame really. Even the prelims were superb. But Hughes-Sharp was a cure for insomnia... brought back recent bad memories of Canelo-Scull, and Harper-Zimmermann was an awkward, sloppy mess, although credit to Zimmermann for making it that way and for being so tough... as it was such an obvious mismatch.
The commentary tonight….ffs, just when you think Smith can’t get any worse….some of his highlights ‘ my dad’s from Leeds, I’m from London ‘ ‘ It’s ( Hughes v Sharp ) set for 10 rounds ‘ (12 rounder ), ‘ Dave (Coldwell ) you’re just a big kid ‘’ Dave (Allen) had the choice of chocolates, honeycomb or grapes. He’s picked chocolate. ‘ I like Archie Sharpe’s boots ‘ and ‘he’s got Sharp where he wants him, roughed up against the ropes ‘ ( Sharp feinting in the centre of the ring ). Of course, he’s back tonight to ruin the Queensberry show, the f**king buffoon. The voice of boxing. You wanted him, now we’ve all got him, every b@stard week . Apologises for the strong language.
i mean....look bruv. i get it. but to be a pro in the game you need another job. then take that to the womans game. it is hard. there may be more girls in the sport but the sport still has a 'funding the participants'. and its more of a point of how we can't funnel talent to the better parts of the sport. so a chugging part timer who is funding her career can be on time and hit weight and be more clued up about getting a title shot. wheres a decent am and pro would have to hope and pray they get enough fights in their division to make a wake and get promotion. we are through the looking glass recently. when Ebanie B collabs with Elle Brooks for celeb boxing. Brooks wants credability and respect. Ebanie needs exposure and recognition. which has now meant that BOTH are pro's. both have made more sitting in that between ground of proffesional competition and celeb endorsement. either way. we need more 'respect' for the womans game. it may be drab. but there is some real amazing talent that is washed away because the lack of knowledge and development at the lower end. it's why so many of the best fighters in the sport came into our sport late and from different discaplines.
I heard a figure of around 5000 last night but I don't believe that and the 10000 tickets that were supposed to have been sold are wildly exaggerated.
