The problem is Canelo isn't fighting a primed young fighter in his own division. He's got too much, too soon. Usually guys his age are getting put against other young-ish fighters for a CHANCE at a title, then once proven they get a belt after beating someone dangerous or overall good in the division. Canelo due to popularity has completely skipped that step. A young champion should be looking for CREDIBILITY, then they get the dollars which usually comes from badly faded named fighters. He's like a number one overall draft pick who has guaranteed money and only played against the Browns.

Regardless of what you think, Canelo-Cotto might be a very good fight.

Does Trout deserve it more?
Based on one fight, yes.
Based on their career? :think

So if you want to talk about "deserving" there is not only one angle.

Trout can face someone like Kirkland while Cotto ends his own boxing career.

Trout will get his chance.

 

I'm not defending GBP and I've called them out for cherry picking for Canelo all the time.
And I went on a rant recently about how Oscar can eat a d*ck after he rigged Mares/Moreno.

You on the other hand congratulates Arum when he prevents fights from happening

 

I don't like that argument. They tried the same thing to justify Mosley/Pacquiao.

I'm more of a what have you done for me lately type person. If Cotto beats Kirkland, Angulo, K9 or whoever next, then I'm ok with him fighting Canelo.
But as of now, the only people Canelo should be facing is Lara/Vanez, Floyd, Trout, Sergio, or Kirkland

Trout whooped up on Canelo's brother in their home town and has been calling out Canelo since then to avenge his brother's loss. They can hype this fight up to generate a good turn out.
