Cuadro actually winning the sixth, leading with long right hooks, falling in with looping lefts, then dropping himself headfirst into a bowed position diagonally forward & to the right, then scuttling his long legs in close and giving Díaz no room to maneuver before clinching him up. Ugly but effective stuff from the challenger. The current WBA Gold super featherweight champion not doing a goddamn thing in the interests of showing he particularly wishes to retain.

Díaz rebounds, sticks the jab, disrupting Cuadro's offense a bit more now, but still a very close round. His plan A, spoiling, brought him boos, and plan B, letting Cuadro take lead, caused him to get hit and see his points lead chipped away on. This plan C, hanging inside and being first with a cautious caveat, is seeing him just barely keep his head above water.

Díaz spits out his gum shield to stall for time for the third time in the last few rounds, flagrantly intentional and the ref has already warned him officially. Should be a point deduction, if not now then next time he does it..

 

Cuadro is popping long jabs in the face and then swarming in behind the whip-snap left and high right hook. Díaz is slashing at the body with right hooks coming forward, and slipping punches with quick dips to either side, but spending long periods just not throwing even though he's coming forward.

Cuadro jabbing between the wrists, then starting to double up but pulling the secondary jab halfway to its target and instead transforming it midair into a right hook curled sneakily around the guard and planted into Díaz's ear. Díaz is heaving, deep breaths while leaning deeply with his chest basically resting across his lead right thigh with his knee pointed outward. Cuadro is pecking at him with both hands, mostly right jabs & hooks from every altitude and distance, most just grazing, but he's doing most of the point scoring as he's generating virtually all of the offense.

Cuadro with pot shot jabs to start abortive charges in, only to bounce himself to an outer track and turn Díaz, then sweeping out some right hooks to hack at the chest if Díaz follows. Nothing clean landing either way for a solid minute. Díaz running. Cuadro content to just jump in, softly score a jab skimming off the cheek, and then return to his full height well beyond Díaz's reach. Anytime either of them tries mounting any more serious offense they end up awkward repelling after bracing off the bent back of the opponent or clinching.

Jo-Jo wheezing on the stool. Looks like he might puke.

 

Díaz comes out angry and aggressive to answer the bell for round 12. Digging some nice right hooks to the body early on. Cuadro smacking him with jabs & hooks on the face and loading up on long lashing lefts, but Díaz is snapping his head back with the up-jab from a crouch and then working the body. Bit of stalling in the final minute or so as they tie up, both gassed. Wild sloppy combos from Cuadro and pawing jabs from Díaz while circling, neither landing.
