This would be a terrible match up for Alvarez. Pwill would either stop him on accumulation or win a decision. As a Pwill fan I say make this fight!!

I feel the same way. People love to underrate Paul because he doesn't have great mechanics or a flashy style.

Fact is, his chin is well in tact, and Alvarez doesn't have the power to get him out. And that leaves one option. 12 Rounds of keeping a well-conditioned, video-game-like, relentless punching machine off yo ass.

Alvarez is in for a rough night.

Props to GBP ..This is a very dangerous fight for Alverez ..Williams reach could pose a problem ..Too bad he doesn't have a trainer that can make him capitalize on that ..

williams will be throwing punches and bunches at canelo and you better believe canelo will be getting hit, but I feel like canelo can potentially knock paul out. what a compelling fight.

Well said and what is Pwill's weakness? An overhand left. That is not a punch that Alvarez uses. Pwill matches up well with this guy. Look for Alvarez to be in a shell and losing this fight via work rate.

I actually doubt seriously that this fight gets made.

I think Williams has been completely wasted, which is a shame. He was an awesome fighter a few years ago but has sadly declined.

Still, Williams averages around 100 punches per round. Canelo averages around 50. That alone makes this a tricky one for Alvarez, even though he'll land at ease on Williams.

agreed. pwill has been ko'd once and it was not a sustained beatdown that can physically ruin a fighter.

canelo is running out of time. they want to fill the september mexican independence day and unfortunately the bundrage/spinks winner will not be available.

he has vanes, pwill, lara, pbf, molina and cotto...all fighters that can beat him and some that can make him look bad.

i think 6'2" pwill is the worst match-up for the 5'7" canelo.

Yeah, I'm still in doubt myself. I haven't heard any talk of this fight back home, so I'll wait until we hear from some folks before I make travel arrangements.

I'd be amazed if Alvarez pulled this off. He's not a slick, fast southpaw that gives Williams trouble and he's not much of a counter puncher. He fights in spurts, and Paul's greatest strength IS his workrate.

    War Tall Paul. :hat

Williams may not deserve it, but it's a good test.If Williams has a lit left in the tank his work rate can take Canelo to deep waters. But I'm afraid he's pretty much done.

Height doesn't really matter as much with a fighter like Petey who negates that advantage rushes inside. What people don't realize though, is that he is one of the best inside fighters at that weight, and he actually prefers to be on the inside depending on who he's fighting.

He will be stalking Canelo the entire fight.

Where the height does make a difference is the angles at which Canelo is going to have to throw his punches while Paul is trying to work his way inside. Paul struggles with the mid-range game, and if he makes even one minor adjustment, he can make this fight absolutely impossible for Alvarez.
