Chavez Jr. and Alvarez are the ones who get most media exposure, cuz Chavez Jr. gets TV Azteca pushing and Televisa is trying to make Alvarez a superstar, but most Mexican boxing fans consider both boxers overhyped and won't believe they're that good 'till they prove it with better boxers... so they might be popular and very widely known by the average Mexican, but they aren't that well supported among the boxing fans in Mexico.

 

I don't know man...I just got back from Sonora and Baja, and the consensus was that Alvarez is something special, and as much love as they give JCC jr. I saw them have more admiration for Saul.

The way you talk, I'm not even sure you're Mexican, because Mexico is flying big on these youngsters.

That 130,000+ Mexicans couldnt afford tickets, which he was proven wrong when 132,000+ Mexicans showed up and watched Chavez beat seven shades of **** out of Haugen.

I know it's prob just a coincidence & don't mean much to most...

But "México Lindo y Querido" has/Was always been JCC Sr's ring walk music & Also Jr's current intro.

Because he fought an unranked m.Hutton for the title when he should have faced a couple of guys in the Jnr Mdl wgt division. Oscar and Suliman are trying hard to make this guy a superstar, just like his bro Rigoberto in the WBA.

 

It was a **** fight. 7000 is still a lot of people. He's young and has plenty of time to build a van base as long as he keeps winning.

 

The crowd definitely wasn't as loud as you would expect for a Canelo fight in Mexico so these numbers don't really surprise me. Maybe Chavez jr might have stole his thunder.
