Mexican's steam for boxing is gonna cool off for a while the most watched
Boxing event where their countryman was basically robbed just happened two weeks ago. Alot of them are gonna get back in to soccer for a while.

I'm not suprised if a string of pretty uninspiring fights against blantantly overmatched guys has the fans no longer clamouring for tickets to the next one. Time to give him a worthwhile fight.

Not as far fetched as you might think! Danny "Little Red" Lopez had a huge Mexican fan base because Mexicans assumed he was one too because of his last name. Truth is Danny was Irish and Yaqui. When he was very young his mother married a Mexican man who legally adopted him and Ernie. Not a lick of Mexican blood in either:nono

His last name is actually Barragan, which is an irish name which has been changed slightly when his ancestors settled in Mexico.

I'm born and raised and still living in Monterrey, so I'm as Mexican as it gets (well... I'm regio first :smoke).

As I said, he is widely known, and maybe really praised by the average Mexican (I mean the ones who just watch boxing when there's a "huge" fight involving Mexicans), I can even qualify as that.

But for the ones who usually follow the sport, he's overhyped and won't buy the hype 'till he wins against a worthy opponent... just check the comments in his youtube clips or in any Mexican forum where they discuss about boxing...

And about the crowd, check this:

I'm aware that my translation is very poor, but I'm not that great at English.

    ARTICLE IN SPANISH

PD: Chilangos is a nickname for people from Mexico City.
"Juanito" and José Murat are two infamous politicians (well, "Juanito" is a populist aberration of the local politic fauna).
