GBP Offers Cotto 10MIL to fight Canelo

Canelo's a little too much for Cotto right now but that may be too much money to turn down...

 

this sounds like another bullsh!t offer from gbp....like they were going to pay donaire for 3mil....:verysad

they couldn't even guarantee cotto the 10mil against floyd.

I have to disagree here. Canelo has improved by leaps and bounds in the last 2 years and his confidence, despite the loss to Floyd, is still very high...primarily because of the Trout fight. Alvarez brings every single physical advantage to the table and will likely have little respect for Cotto's power at 154. This is coming from a Cotto fan by the way.

Good fight for both and serious money for Cotto. This fight will most definitely happen. I'm picking Alvarez simply because Cotto is finished at this point in his career. Prime Cotto would be a different story.

i believe HBO holds rights but not top rank. So if cotto moves out of HBO, GBP/SHO would have to arrange a buyout.

 

I think Cotto can win this, if not Cotto, CAnelo vs Sergio would be good.

 

Schaefer actually said the offer was "well over 10 million dollars." So it'll be interesting to see if Top Rank can offer him a comparable payday for Martinez.

Then, maybe he can take Quillin's belt. Mayweather may want to fight Cotto for the 160 belt.

They don't necessarily have to. Cotto passed on a similar offer for the Pac rematch to take $1m for Trout.
