The first definitely was, the second, he fell down, but I've seen KD's called on less.

Luis Pabon is just an awful ref. Had Roach up 96-93, as I called the 9th 10-8 anyway.

I really don't understand the ambiguity there, he did a chicken dance and fell on a delayed reaction. :dunno

They didn't want to kick the PR crowd while they were down. This was a "hurricane decision".

So did I, actually have the volume turned pretty low on the commentary (I have very little patience for B-Hop's shilling nowadays for GBP), nearly inaudible, so I didn't actually hear clearly until the round was over that Pabon hadn't ruled it a knockdown.

I was rooting hard for El Fenómeno but he was very fortunate IMO to get that draw. I think he should retire, after seeing that. Being a 36 year old super featherweight, having spent half your life taking punches for a living, with your chin starting to display signs of cracking, and not having the pop to get most opponents' respect (nor the legs to evade them for the full distance anymore), without being ranked top 15 by a single org and thus facing a long uphill climb into contention - all seems like a recipe for nothing but heartbreak and brain damage.

He can probably make a decent living - perhaps better than he would persisting as in-ring competitor - doing the PR talk-show circuit (having secured a modicum of crossover fame as the sport's first openly gay athlete) with maybe a supplementary commentary or coaching gig (as his ring IQ could provide valuable insight, whichever boxing-related vocation he chose next)

In case anyone was wondering, the draw against Cruz, was bull****. It was a sympathy for the hurricane gift draw. Pabon missed one clear knockdown in the 9th, arguably 2.
