Neeco Montiel Macias vs. Jesús Soto Karass, 10 rounds @ light middleweight

 

...damn, Neeco's cojones had not yet dropped when JSK debuted.

 

I love AiC, and Rooster is a fantastic song (among Jerry Cantrell's finest) - but to me it just makes no sense for a boxer's ring walk. The lyrics are about Cantrell's dad (a Vietnam vet) suffering PTSD from his wartime experiences that would affect his family relationships for decades to come, as he retreated into a hard-ass shell to cope and was never able to emerge (elaborated upon more in some songs on Cantrell's solo records).

It's depressing as ****, not really a galvanizing "okay yeah let's rumble" song.

Soto Karass is backed into the ropes. Macias is a blur, overhand lefts & rights strapping against either cheek as Soto Karass is countering with shoveling blows into the chest & rib cage. Macias hooking and chopping now as Soto Karass slides along the ropes nearly into a corner. Soto Karass' flanks already have a red horizontal line across them from the ring-ropes biting into them as he is pinned against them under a storm of blows from Macias. Soto Karass is able to land an uppercut obliquely and then grazes with a sweeping left hook while dipping back against the ropes for extra buoyancy, yet the number of throws & connects is still largely in Macias' favor. Macias is hacking down, resting his chin atop Soto Karass' head and pumping shots into the sternum. Counter hook by Soto Karass, unable to get off the ropes.
