Didn't Golden Boy bring up the possibility about a Chavez Jr rematch.

LOL do you not see the irony to what you want Triple G to do? So, let me get this straight : you think that Triple G "absolutely needs" to fight Saunders in June, even though Canelo is Saunders mandatory? This is hilarious on so many levels. So it's okay for Saunders to bypass his mandatory so that Triple G is in a better position in negotiations with Canelo?

Sounds really similar to Canelo wanting to negotiate freely with Triple G rather than being dictated to him and all that. You don't want Canelo to have the upper hand in negotiations. The irony is that Canelo doesn't need to fight Saunders before fighting Golovkin, but yet you seem to think Golovkin needs Golovkin to fight Saunders before fighting Canelo. It's really ironic, that's all, that you need Golovkin to fight Saunders (instead of his mandatory) so Triple G gains the upper hand in negotiations. It's also really funny because you're acting like you need to do that to get Canelo to force him to fight him, when it's GBP who wants the fight to happen in September.

Oscar did say that, but he said that to talk up how tough of a competitor Chavez is, that it could be a very tough very close fight worthy of a rematch. At the same time, he reiterated that his plan is still to have Canelo fight Golovkin in September.

For f*ck's sake. What K2 Is business as usual for everyone. There isn't a promoter around that doesn't throw a bit net out when looking for fights for their guy. It's called having a back up plan. 99% of the time, it's just talks which might go nowhere.

Unification trumps mandatories, and Canelo is not the mandatory any more ... he dropped it to fight Chavez Jr and Khurtsidze and Murata are the two mandatories.

Because Canelo is the A-side and GBP clearly want to play hardball. GGG therefore needs all the leverage he can get, incl. Saunders belt. Canelo is a big ppv star already, it doesn't matter as much for him.

Exactly! I just got to this thread, but I can imagine Isal and the other idiots siding with GBP on this.

    1) Canelo is busy on other fights. If the mandatory was so important to him then he would have fought Saunders first
    2) Saunders can't be expected to hang around for a year (Chavez, Chavez 2) while Pollo decides what to do
    3) Unifications > Mandatories. Always have.

    Not to me.

    1) You're right, I don't want Fishnets to have the upper hand. That's because
    2) Canelo ducked GGG once and having all the belts means Canelo has to go through GGG
    3) If Pollo has a 160 belt then he will NEVER fight Golovkin and will hide behind it forever

*whispers* GBP are lying to you. They will not fight Golovkin in September.

    A) GBP doesn't want GGG in September. They just want to pretend they do. They really want BJS so he can get another title, hence why they bought the "mando" status for a guy who has never fought at the full 160lb limit.

    B) Unifications take precedent over mandos, so GGG should and could get BJS next with no issues whatsoever. That's not "bypassing" your mando when you are fighting a guy who holds the other three major titles in the division.

    C) GBP is posturing so they can get the belt off Saunders and use it as leverage to make GGG take a flat fee. As a champion vs. mandatory, Saunders should take it to purse bid and get 75%.

If neither guy was to fight BJS after their respective upcoming fights, I still don't believe they will fight in September. The only way they do is if Canelo makes 4x as much as GGG and they cash him out. There is no way Oscar puts him in the ring under any type of fair deal. They are more corrupt than Arum and Haymon. And that says a lot.

May of 2016, the time Canelo said he'd fight GGG anytime, september of 2017, the time GBP Said when the flght should happen. 15 months, 16 months, over a year. I don't see what's the big deal about these numbers.

I don't think GGG doesn't need to fight Canelo, he does. But I also think he needs to fight BJS. He's most likely gonna fight in summer anyway, It can be against a Willie Monroe level opponent, a fight that noone wants to see, or It can be against Saunders, a good fight that makes all the sense. Don't you think It's normal to be down with this bitter statement from GBP?

If they have a close fight, I'd say that's a guarantee. From a business standpoint, one might not blame them for that. But this is supposed to be a sport FIRST, so forget that! But yeah, they did mention the possibility of it.

It almost makes me feel sorry for Golovkin. He's very much like Pacquiao in that he has virtually no say in how his career is handled.

They've made easy money off him at his legacys expense.

I got a feeling K2 is milking him the way Arum milks Pacquiao.

GBP can tell GGG to murder his family to get the Canelo fight and you'd still claim he and his people are making a bad business decision by not doing so. There are no boundaries to your ODLH/GBP/Canelo nuthugging.
