No lol no ones ever asked for a rematch. Monroe claimed GGG cheated with hip punches lol but he never asked for a rematch at all

He got a "gift" vs cotto, what seriously ???
He beat cotto very clearly!!! And a triolgy, how could that happen ? I think you're saying it would be close enough where people lIke you claim he really should've won it. .

I'm not ruling out a canelo win, I think he's the only fighters from 54 to 68 that could make a fight with trip G that close where an arguement could be made, but I really don't think it's plausible, unlikely but there's a slim chance.

I mean you and a few alts or clueless casuals claim he should've lost to trout, cotto and fugging lara, when the fact is the only somewhat close fight that could be debated at all was the lara fight. That can only be argued with people that don't know the scoring criteria.

Thinking about it from your perspective, sh!t, he fought fmj to a majority decision, I guess he could make any arguement if he's not stopped

this fight does not need to "marinate" it simply needs to happen. Hopkins, who works with Golden Boy, the promoter of Canelo, was on The Fight Game talking about the fight being at a catch weight. I think Canelo will use this as a way to postpone this fight for a long time. Canelo has a tough time making 154. Their only intent here is to road block the fight. I felt Canelo beat Cotto clearly but he didn't "handle" him he didn't dominate him.

A loss to GGG is different than a loss to Mayweather because a loss to Mayweather looks like you lost a game of tag and hold, a loss to GGG looks like you just got ran over by a car.

I see Canelo fighting at 156 for a few years, only because if he takes opponents at 160 the question will be then why does he not fight GGG at 160?

Oscar has shown he cares not about taking guys from lower weight divisions up two divisons to feed the Canelo mythology. You saw what they did with Josesito Lopez who had just moved up to welter to face Ortiz. However they need a name, they want Canelo on HBO PPV so they need a name.

My guess is that name is Timothy Bradley. Arum and Oscar can both make a bunch of money. Bradley wants to try 154 and I believe fought at that weight in the amateurs even against the likes of Andre Ward. But the truth is Canelo will have a huge size advantage, absolutely massive, and it won't be at 154 it will be at 156 probably. Arum and Oscar can get paid and HBO is happy to make a PPV with two established names and Canelo gets his comfortable massive size advantage against another guy who like Cotto and Lopez, fought a large part of his career at junior welter and is a naturally, much smaller man physically.

Look for Canelo to fight name fighters at 156 or 157 that are career junior welters (meaning guys that are not huge at welter). A second option could be for example, Ruslan Provodnikov. Big name, scary reputation, but just physically so much smaller than Canelo.

I hope I am wrong. But the GGG fight is going to be there for them, for a long time. GGG is unlikely to lose anytime soon. And nobody wants at 160 with some momentum or name wants to fight him. He is isolated in that sense. Meanwhile Canelo and Oscar can clean up on PPV with a fanbase that won't ever question the mythology. They love it.

Good post. I also think this is the strategy of Oscar and Canelo - feed Canelo with bloated up welters with a high profile name @ 155/156/157 lbs. But who knows maybe Golovkin would say yes to 155 lbs and that would change GBP's plans.:hey

Do you REALLY believe Suliaman & the Wbc would strip El Pollo ? the Alphabets do not want a unified champion

He wants a rematch. I want Monroe to get it just so GGG can knock him out in 2 rounds like he should have. Monroe is doing quite a bit of trash talking on his twitter. His cover wallpaper is even of him hitting GGG haha:lol::roll:

I agree with C.J. on this one. I am still hard pressed to envision a scenario where the WBC doesn't continue allowing the procrastination game to continue.

Correct me if I am mistaken, but wasn't GGG first promised a shot to face the winner of Martinez-Cotto? And after Cotto won, wasn't Miguel then given the chance for a voluntary, where GGG was again promised the winner of Cotto-Geale? Only to have a "step-aside" deal which allowed for Cotto-Canelo, where he was promised money, and a guaranteed shot at the winner of that one? I believe they had until 15 days after the Nov 21 bout to begin negotiating? Until the WBC again changed their tune and began talking about a double-header to help promote a showdown?

Again, correct me if I'm mistaken, but the politics at play do not seem to favor Golovkin at all here, and I would be shocked if they suddenly start taking action that goes against the WBC's own best interests.

C.J. and I have been on the same page with this one for awhile.

Monroe is being serious (at least acting like it). I'm being facetious. Calm yourself.

GGG should exercise his mandatory status and make a public demand on HBO that he wants to fight El Pollo 'now' if the WBC keeps allowing El Pollo to keep that belt and fight whoever he wants in September.

He probably should, but even if he did, I remain unconvinced that the WBC will force Canelo's hand under such circumstances.

Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me thrice...

What makes anyone think that the WBC will suddenly change tunes on a 4th promise?
