At least GGG would make them look stupid and have no credibility but maybe we don't know all the stuff behind the scene. Probably all parties have an agreement that we don't know. If not then K2 and GGG got fooled with ease.:think

You are correct in that we really don't know what the heck may or may not be going on behind the scenes. But as I see it, at least, the WBC (and all the ABC's - but the WBC in particular) have been grossly lacking in credibility for years. And I don't see how that's changed, or what would prevent them from continuing to serve their own best interests.

And I agree there's probably some semblance of an "agreement" between the parties, but I'm clueless as to what that might be, and would always have my doubts about any of the parties keeping any promises made in any case.

My personal guess is that GGG and his team view a Canelo bout, as a whole, as something far more valuable than a WBC trinket, so they're continuing to play ball in the hopes of landing Canelo eventually. There's an awful lot of upside if they can chase down that match-up, and there's a lot of lost potential if they simply s**** those plans and pick up the WBC belt without being afforded the chance to win it in the ring against Canelo in front of a PPV audience.

Canelo clearly remains the biggest possible dance partner Golovkin can hope to have.

Yep, the ball is in Canelo's court. He's the new PPV star and the lineal mw champion. As you said, it has to do more with the man than with that trinket but like any other boxing fan I hate the boxing politics and the fact that Canelo and his team are aware of their privilged position and they probably are trying to delay the fight as much as they can in the hope that GGG fades away and looks beatable, knowing that Canelo has the age advantage. Personally I want this fight to happen in May 2016 or at the latest in September 2016 @ 160 lbs, of course. :good

That's what I've been saying. Why are all of these fools making plans to fight someone their level two years from now? They want to pull a May/Pac type swindle and let the fight simmer, until the demand is all out of proportion? That's bull**** and just jerking the fans around. Instead of sitting on their asses, these *******s ought of fight everyone around them with a pulse. If the fight is good enough, then people will want to see a rematch.

That's how you build anticipation, by delivering a good product people enjoy. Anticipation was great for the Pac/Marquez series, the Vazquez/Marquez series, the Barrera/Morales trilogy, the Gatti-Ward trilogy, and the Rios/Alvarado trilogy.

Business wise, waiting as long as the demand outgrows ala May-Pac and of course GGG ageing is the best thing to do for all the parties (especially for Canelo and the tv networks) which are involved in this business but for us, the fans that want to see this fight happen when both fighters are still in their physical primes is unworthy.
