Espada seems to sense that he might be in danger of either losing or suffering the anticlimax of a training camp wasted on a No Contest - throwing caution windward and wailing on Ballard! Espada with some heavy power shots! Ballard frozen and then backed into the ropes for a time. Espada pumping in both hands with everything he's got! Ballard now replies with some hard body shots. Espada now getting walked down. Espada dances side to side, changing into more of a cutie pie boxing style, flicking jabs. The ref has the doctor take one more look at Espada's cut. They're waving it off. Not sure if we're going to a TD or NC or what..

NJ rules are the standard then, 4 must be completed?

 

Ref did rule the cut was from the accidental headbutt. This should be a NC (second of Ballard's pro career)

 

If they'd let it go another round and a half, and if Espada won the fourth, he could have salvaged a draw. Still not a win, but I'm sure he would have preferred it to a NC.

 

Ooh, the rules in NJ apparently stipulate that FIVE rounds must be completed to go to a technical decision..

 

Well...I came in not really knowing jack shit about Meech - and kind of still don't.
