Seems GBP bid 1,052,500 compared to Top Ranks 1,050,000 bid. The WBO was told the fight will be June 21 in L.A.

  2. Can someone enlighten me on how purse vids work in boxing? I thought GBP and Top Rank don't do business ATM under any circumstances.

2,500 between the bids? GBP clearly have a mole inside the TR camp.

Promoters submit bids for the fight and the highest bidder wins promotional rights to the fight. The fighters are gauranteed a certain percentage of the amount bid. I think Lomachenko is 60% and Russell 40% in this case.

GBP won the bid so the fight is now theirs to promote.

If Lomachenko wants to fight for the title it will be on a card promoted by GBP and no Top Rank involvement unless GBP agrees to it, which won't happen here.

Should have been a 50/50 split, but no worries. Come June Amateur hour is over and Loma will need that extra walking loot.

Open auction is the best way to go...but this is hated by promoters, managers, governing bodies & fighters :hey

How does one prospect beating another prospect make you legit?

Would like to see the look on Bob's face at the moment. He's not the lead for Loma's next fight AND there's probably a rat in his team.
