GBP wins Lomachenko-Russell purse bid

If this fight goes off I think it will be close based on styles. GR is hella fast but Loma has reach. Loma looked amatuer against Salido but it may be an advantage against Gary. Im interested

 

I can't believe that GRJ is going through with the fight at this stage, I don't think I'll truly believe it until he's in the ring with Loma. I hope GRJ can be competitive, I like his style. Even if GRJ has the potential to be a top fighter he's really screwed himself with his opposition, the difference between Tomayo and Lomachenko is going to be very jarring and he's going to struggle a lot in the opening rounds.

 

How is GRJ going to react when he takes his first proper punch in pro boxing?

 

I guess Lomachenko will have to put up with crooked judges and Oscar will probably bring Laurence Cole, the worst referee in boxing history............

It looks as if Arum is losing all his influence in boxing.....................

 

That is going to be really interesting.

This fat **** claims Lomachenko is going to be easy work, then asked about Rigondeaux he says "Too short, Gary's jab would shut him down" (despite midget Russell being the same height as Rigo). He really is detached from reality, he's going to get his boy beaten down.

Russell jr. talking about his 'pro' experience. Apparently he doesn't understand that there are levels in boxing. I have respect for GRJ for taking the fight but I think he's taking it because he's too dumb to understand the difference between Tomayo and Salido, and can only see the number instead of the talent. He's going to seriously get wrecked.

 

I just watched a super **** fight...Gary Russell Jr vs Gusev

Gusev is so ****, he doesnt compare to Jose Ramirez. Gusev doesnt throw anything, has terrible movement, no wit, **** footwork. It's just a pain to watch, how the hell is Gary learning much fighting these dudes?

Not that impressed with Gary although he has good aspects to his game. He's actually a boring fighter to watch (that or my interest in boxing has waned even more).
Gary's one-punch counters can be powerful against this bum opposition. Salido struggled to find Loma out of position, Gusev in sht poisition a lot.
With regards to Gary's power, which he has demonstrated albeit against bumbaklats, he doesn't actually make the most of it because of his style. His style is something Lomachenko's very familiar too, seen it many times.
I actually think Gary can stun Lomachenko a bit with his dangerous right hook. We will know the true extent of Gary's power when that lands.

This could be a textbook win for Lomachenko, it's what Lomachenko needs.
Loma has to throw more punches even though they may not land much. Gary does this all the time with his jabs and his faux-combinations that dont land.

I smiled when I saw the way Gary defends himself, the hands go up and his body is exposed. Haha, you cant do that against Lomachenko, we will see Lomachenko attack to the body.

Gary isn't the come-forward, pressure sort of guy, in fact, his game allows Lomachenko too much time and space to dictate the fight, it doesn't help that Gary is 5'4 and 61' reach - even Rigondeaux is half an inch taller and has a 66' reach. That's the problem with Gary, someone beats him at his own game in that regard and he's ****ed. Vodopyanov comes to mind.

It's a little annoying because as Lomachenko will come forward (he better), Gary is going to catch him with shots & ineffective flurries to the arms, but the judges will probably count it as they're less nazi about clean punches than amateur judges, and Vasyl doesn't throw many punches as it is - that's a problem from the Salido fight - we didn't really see Salido land many clean shots or powerful ones, but judges got all happy about it and rewarded Salido.

 

Interesting fight hope it happens.

Russelll looks more talented but he has only fought bums so far.

Lomachenko had a great amateur record but he looks like an average fighter as a pro.

Loma has showed balls by taking on Salido in his second pro fight but he doesnt have the physical gifts that Russell has if i were to pick i would go with Russell reluctantly.

 

Russell is going to make this amateur quit.
Loma looks like an ordinary fighter with limited skills against Sailda.
When he gets in the ring with Russell Loma is going to wish he had that amateur headgear on as combinations blast him across his mug.

This is going to be a great win for Russell. Not because Loma is actually so good, but that he is so hyped. When Russell destroys him people will realize just how good Russell is and how much of a hype Loma is.

Salido was able to take Lomachenko out of his game with his dirty tactics, where Russell will simply rely on his athleticism. I expect Lomachenko to time Russell and pick him apart.

 

Tremendous opportunity for both guys. Loma gets a chance to claim a world title in only his 3rd recognized pro bout. That would be a tremendous achievement. Russell, who seems to have already been written off despite being undefeated and still in his mid 20's, has the chance to get some respect from his many critics.

 

Who knows. Guy could have an Oliver McCall chin for all you know

 

Russel will beat Lomachenko hands down if Loma don't throw punches.

GRJ is gonna stay as far outside as possible and will be looking to give his best Rigo impersonation.


What Lomas gotta do to win this fight is time Russels backfoot movement which aint gonna be easy considering everything Russel will be doing will be moving backwards.
On the plus side, Loma won't have to worry about staying out of range as Russel will actually be moving out of range while he's throwing.

Loma should look to draw GRJ in towards a corner, then move to his R, where he can take center ring with a sidestep, GRJ then goes on the back foot into the ropes, and Loma can look to get inside to the body and counter upstairs.

Its gonna take Loma a few rds of baiting then chasing, but IMO, he's got 12....should only take 5-6. :think

GRJ is not a dirty fight so the ref won't come into play. And he's not strong enough to hurt Loma coming in......shouldnt be a problem for Loma to eventually ensnare him and touch him up.

GRJ will either fold, or face multiple KDs in which the judges will be forced to score it proper.:think
