Geale is good and wasn't appreciated several years ago when he was doing a lot. He has faded and I suspect Cotto will win a close-ish decision.

Geale doesnt have Martinez sloppy defense nor his questionable whiskers.

What Geale also doesnt have is Martinez power, which was almost non existent vs Cotto due to having to be so defensive.

Geale won't be the faster man in there, but he will be the stronger IMO, and also the better boxer.

That R hand he drilled GGG with before getting hammered by GGGs own, woulda ENDED Cotto as a MW.

I wouldnt bet against Geale, especially since weight WILL NOT be a factor.:good

Umm you didin't see mucho of Cotto right yes Golovkin way harder than Cotto, but in cutting the ring Cotto is a master and for me way better than Golovkin in that department Golvikin cut the ring but eating punches in the process Cotto barely gets Hit the way in.

Both are almost the same age, Cotto is way more damaged than Geale and a big factor Cotto is a damaged welterweight. Is a solid fight not so a mismatch like a few people says in this forum.

They possibly weighed him after a workout but it still means that he wont be having any trouble making the catchweight.

Would be amazing if Geale won this. GGG's path to the lineal title would become much quicker.

Yeah, because Cotto is overrated due to his performances at 140 and bloodying Floyds nose. Geale is underrated due to not ever really having that "spectacular aura" and losing so badly to GGG.

His skills are good, his chin is good , he has good legs and he has something to prove after his humiliation at the hands of GGG.

It really looks like Geale can make the weight without damage. If this holds true, Cotto is in trouble. Geale doesnt need a big weight advantage to beat Cotto. All he needs to do is avoid Cotto big hook to the jaw, and work his volume like he usually does.

    Definitely possible

But I'm referring to the general sentiment that this is a bad fight

If the upset is a real possibility then its not a bad match up afterall

I'm pretty sure if cotto wins this fight with relative ease folks will state Geale is damaged good similar to the excuses made when Cotto countered Sergio's southpaw attack with looping left hooks over the right shoulder just like Floyd Patterson used to do vs aggressive southpaws.....wait no he won because Sergio's knees were shot smh! The day this site contains more boxing enthusiasts and less haters and fans boys the more productive the boxing conversations will be.

I'm expecting a Cotto decision but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Geale wins.

This is very encouraging for my Geale by UD pick. Even more confident in it now.
