Geale closer to my P4P list than Golovkin - Dan Rafael

Daniel Geale is closer to breaking into Dan Rafael's Top 20 P4P list than Gennady Golovkin >>>

    • Daniel Geale (28-1, 15 KOs): He's coming off a big win -- albeit a very close one -- to Felix Sturm to unify a pair of alphabet middleweight belts. He won both of his belts by split decision in Germany (the first against Sebastian Sylvester), which had been unheard of until now. I'd say one more win against another titleholder or top-rated contender in the suddenly hot middleweight division ought to do the trick.

    • Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KOs): The middleweight titlist already seems likely to crack the list in the near future. He had a monster amateur career (Olympic silver winner to top it off) and has been ferocious as a pro. He has some solid B-level names on his record, such as Grzegorz Proksa and Kassim Ouma, although that's not enough to put him on the P4P list yet. But with a willingness to fight anyone and the skills to match, he should be there soon. Give him maybe three more fights against quality opponents.

Interesting. Rafael has been fairly critical of Geale and has been spruiking GGG as an emerging talent for a while. Good to see he's realistic about it from a position of the accomplishments of both fighters thus far.

How good can Geale be when he can't even KO a way past prime Mundine?

Geale is very average and would be destroyed by GGG and Sergio.

aren't they supposed to fight each other by the end of the year anyway or is geale running from Golovkin like Sturm?

Gary Shaw has reported that the purse bid has been delayed a few weeks but said that Geale wont vacate the WBA title. Geale has already shown he's not interested in holding belts hostage the way Sturm did for so many years. There are plenty of us Geale fans hoping he does take that risky fight over Soliman for the IBF mandatory.

We can only take Gary Shaw at his word on that for now. Hopefully it works out that way and Geale does go on and defend the WBA title :good

Must suck to have your "glass half empty" approach to anyone not Mundine.

On the odd occasion you post off Mundine you seem a better poster.
