I am very aware of the faux pas regarding the questioning of a fighter's motivation's and andeagerness to test themselves because they do risk their health on a constant basis but this is really getting ridiculous. The way Golovkin gets avoided is so discouraging. It cannot all be blamed on boxing polotics and monetary long term gain.

In most of these instances the blame rests squarely on the fighters willingness to test themselves. I will not go as far as calling them scared but they surely have seriousl reservations about the prospect of fighting Golovkin for the payday that is realistically available.

if geale wants to fight so his fans can see him then he may as well do what sturm, ottke, braehmer do. hold a paper belt hostage at home without ever fighting anyone

there's no point looking for big fights if you're going to lock horns with the networks. doesn't work that way.

make your name in the US - then try calling some shots

In fairness to Ward, he should. Ward should have ditched that fat, coke dealing albatrose(sp) who has bankrupted every business partner he's ever had a long time ago.

its the federations that allow it, but you're right too
one federation doesn't give the fighters the luxury to pick and choose fights

just cause he wants his fans/country to watch, doesn't mean he doesn't want big fights.

    its possible to have both.

fighting ggg on that date is not the only choice for geale.

not everyone has to bow down to get important fights u know. I applaud geale for not being pressured to agree to something that he shouldn't have to.

but hes shooting himself in the foot (if he really wants the fight)
if geale had network backing, it'd be him calling the shots
the only difference between geale and golovkin is that golovkin has the backing of HBO

I have a lot of respect for geale. going to Germany and walking away with 2 belts is more than golovkin has achieved, but the only thing going for geale now that he has no belt to use as leverage, is that golovkin NEEDS to fight good opposition

geale's opportunity window can close real fast as it stands
he's only fought once in the US so he isn't known here, he doesn't have a belt, while golovkin has notoriety and network backing

Daniel needs to take his chance or there won't be one

that's twice Geale has talked about wanting the fight and then pulling out. Lame. Very lame.

It looks like Andy Lee will get the beating instead.

    that's not true.

he can still get the fights he needs and or wants without fighting on this date.
ggg is not the only choice for geale.

besides, everyone assumes ggg is the best out there, so if geale is gunna put his nuts and career on the line then he should get the best deal possible for himself. that's not possible, so be it. its not necessarily his fault, its just the business of pro boxing.

when I say 'there won't be any chances' I mean his opportunity to get big fights. geale probably makes more money fighting garth wood in Australia than he does fighting golovkin in the US

all i'm saying is geale can easily fall off the radar

HBO needs to put up some big money to get Golovkin a good opponent, they have the money. However, I have read that Golovkin will get the winner of the Martinez/Cotto fight. Martinez will knock Cotto out, then HBO should have the chance to land the big one for Golovkin......................Golovkin is so good, I hate to see him wasting away, but at least he will get lots of exposure on HBO..............

He was also just offered Monaco and passed. Per his promoter Gary Shaw:

"I know GGG would fight Geale as [Golovkin's team] asked if we wanted the fight in Monte Carlo, but Geale wants to fight him on HBO."

network coverage (and backing) is what opens doors

Then he gets HBO and says, no, I want to fight on Main Event (Aussie sports PPV channel)...tsk, tsk.

Nah I'm not giving Geale too hard a time just yet, cos he is sounding like he's genuinely willing to fight GGG, but it won't be a good look if he turns down the next opportunity too.

Well if it's true, at least it clears up one issue - the question of which of the two has more sense, Geale or Lee!
