Nobody is denying this will be a huge fight, especially amongst boxing pundits, but the Mundine-Green fight at the time divided a nation and had people picking sides, it actually transcended the sport , and is the reason why they are both so well known and inexplicably linked with each other, i can not see how this will be bigger than that. That is not a knock on choc or geale either

It wasn't the point of my post. I agree the Green fight was bigger.

what was the point of your post? that people are still bitter over the green fight? i don't think anybody is bitter about that, there are very few green fans left on this forum unfortunately and the truth is that mundine boxed brilliantly that night and earnt a lot of respect imo

Doesn't matter to Danny fans which Danny they support as long as it is against Mundine. My point is that all the forum hatred for Mundine stems from 2006 and has lasted this long.

I think a lot of it stems from before 2006, but there were also a hell of a lot of mundine fans before and since then, people became disillusioned with the circus and bitter towards the false promises.

I think this fight is going to be alot better then alot of people think. Lets just remember that last time they fought. Geale was an un-known quantity with a garbage IBO belt up for grabs. This time around, Mundine knows what sort of fight he is in for. And there is the IBF belt up for grabs. This is probably Mundines last chance to win a legitimate belt. And I think he is going to train harder then he ever has for this fight. I'm certainly not going to write him off here. If Geale can't knock Mundine out (which is unlikely, as Geale hasn't exactly got the KO punch) I think Mundine is a very good chance of winning this fight!

    I don't think so.
I disliked Mandy well before Green, in fact I can't ever remember liking him.

I'd actually say the Green fight earned Mandy some respect, so if anything Mandy would have been liked by more afterwards.

It is no where near bigger and the main reason is Geale. He does no service to Australian boxing in promoting the sport. There has been and will be plenty of chances to create fued with Mundine to sell this fight but the guy and his team have no idea about this. It is a diservice to Australian boxing.

This is quite the even poll!

I thought the posts, particularly the earlier ones, pointed to a Mundine - Green landslide, but there is a fair proportion of people who reckon Geale - Mundine II is bigger.
