I really like the Pirog-Geale match up but I'm not crazy about Trout-Dzinziruk. Good fighters but their styles together doesn't scream action. Since HBO still owes Dzinziruk a fight I would have rather seen him get Kirkland or Golovkin at 160. If it were Golovkin at 160 you could match the winners if a Martinez fight doesn't happen right away. If the card happens I, as of now, like Geale and Trout in these fights. Too bad the card, if it happens, has to wait until August.
Gaele-Pirog has a MW single elimination Super Six ring to it there, Ken. ...meh, wishful thinking. Good card in the works.
****ing GREAT card!!!! Man this is what needs to happen with these lesser known beltholders...if they want the big fights they gotta fight each other and unify, otherwise they'll be overlooked forever for presenting big risk/low reward. I slightly favour Pirog and Trout in these matchups but I am not very confident in either pick as both of these fights are legit pick'ems. Man this is a great card, kinda strange for HBO though.... 2 Euros an Aussie and an unknown New Mexico American??? Good **** but not what I expect. I really hope this one doesn't fall through and if this is any indication of the direction Herschman's taking then ****ing rights, about time they got someone willing to make great fights over creating names.
I like this card. With Geale-Pirog being for the IBF & WBO championships. I'd assume that it will be the main event. Trout-Dzinziruk is going to be an interesting feture bout. From what I've seen of Trout, I think he has a huge upside. At one point not to long ago Dzinziruk was the best light middleweight around. Who knows what the Martinez beating took out of him though.
This is a great direction. Let some of these lesser known titlists build up their names against each other, and it'll create logical opponents for the bigger name champs in the process. I hope this card turns out well enough for HBO to make a trend of it.
Brilliant card if it comes off, and a great opportunity for Daniel Geale to show a large audience what he's capable of :good
Sounds great! About time they bring Pirog back, and Trout is very highly underrated who deserves a chance on big TV, although stylistically it's a very technical fight.
