Daniel Geale has called out GGG after tonights fight with Garth Wood. Time for it to happen! RIP Daniel Geale. You had a good run.
I hope it happens but I doubt Geale will be ready and willing by late April, which I believe is when Golovkin plans to have his next bout.
Geale might make it awkward and survive against GGG because he is quite hard to hit clean at times and is quite tough but offensively he shouldn't have anything to trouble GGG. It'd be a good fight for GGG I think
Geale's underrated. He has been impressive through quite a decent list of names over the last few years. Geale would be Golovkins' best opponent to date. I would pick Golovkin. Not sure about the stoppage, probably gets one late.
The thing is fighting Golovkin and losing - if that's what happens - will not damage Geale's reputation one little bit. If anything other big names will be lining up to fight him. And if by chance he wins then the division is a gold mine for hum.
Assuming Golovkin beats Lee in April (or May, if his father's funeral induces delays) on a card where Kirkland is knocking somebody out, I think Geale will be K2 and HBO's third preference behind Chavez Jr and Kirkland. All due to interest / HBO ratings. Geale's breakdown: he beat me in the amateurs but I wasn't at my best, I have a strategy to beat him. :!:
The only possible strategy that might work for him is the one I outlined above, which on most nights would not work. He got widely outpointed (15-3) with headgear on and thinks he will fare better with headgear off, despite not being a defensive stylist (not to say he is a punching bag) and Golovkin carrying his KO artist reputation over from the amateurs... :think
He does, but he is a warrior and that will be to his detriment. If he wanted to lose a decision he is probably fleet of foot enough to run from Golovkin for twelve rounds, but he won't do that. He will jump in, flurry, sell out with hard body digs, and get hammered repeatedly with counters and in the end KTFO.
