Geale not fazed by Mundine showdown

Current IBO middleweight champion of the world and former AIS athlete Danny Geale says his sights are set higher than Anthony Mundine, but if ''The Man'' wants to fight, he is ready.
Geale confirmed last weekend that his manger had been contacted by Mundine's party about a potential bout early in 2009.
But it wasn't arrogance leading the 27-year-old to declare himself a worthy contender should the two meet.
A relaxed and calm Geale said his plans were to set up a long career, whether that involved Mundine or not.
''I want to take that next step in my career and compete against the top fighters,'' Geale said.
''If a fight did come up [against Mundine], I'll be more than happy to take up the challenge, but it's not my ultimate goal.
''He's had a lot of fights now and I've been around a while so our management have spoken and we'll just see what happens.''
Geale returned to Canberra on Saturday night to watch four of his students enter the ring at the ACT Boxing Fight at Phillip.
After successfully defending his middleweight title against Geard Ajetovic last month, he has been touted as the best boxer to challenge Mundine should he move into the same weight division.
His trainer Graham Shaw had no doubt that Geale could match it with The Man. But Geale is not fazed about any future bouts against the outspoken and cocky Mundine.
''My credentials have gone up a little bit and people have been talking about a Mundine fight more and more,'' Geale said.
''The more people talk about it, the more likely it is becoming [reality].
''If he comes down to my division then I will be here waiting for him.''

Geale's professional record stands at 19 wins from 19 fights, including 12 knockouts.

Ok , so we had talked about who would win the fight, but will the fight ever happen?

When is Mandy coming down to middle?

Or was he just running **** scared from Kessler?

If Mundine is coming down the middle, he is fighting Taylor first I reckon.

Choc is looking for the best risk vs reward fights out there for him, thats why he wants Green again and thats why he doesnt want Kessler.
Its all about the cash and has always been, some people still refuse to believe that.

I dont think Mundine will fight anyone of significance again, maybe possibly a champion like Sturm if he can fight at middle. But for the rest of Choc's career I think we will be looking at half a dozen more Crazy Kims, Taylors et al and if we are lucky possibly someone like Geale thrown in there aswell.

Put it this way Kessler is earning less than a million for his next fight. Only a few hundred thousand more than when he first fought Mundine.

The pricetag is not an issue, Kessler is not to expensive and has no problem facing Choc.
But I think Khoder and him have realised paying someone $50 000 in tickets makes them more money and its against someone that cant beat them, and therefore its not someone that can shutdown the circus.

Love Geale but he needs more work. I'd really like to see him fight more regulary at the minute even if it's against Mundine type opponents.

He seems to have trouble finding opponents, which you can't blame him for, but 6 months between drinks is way too long to see Dan progress to where he'll need to be against world class guys.

With all his talent, I don't want to see him put on the scrap heap like some before him.

No way would Mundine stop Geale, he couldn't stop Hamdan or Nievas, and Geale is as good or better than both of these guys.
Close decision which could go either way IMO.

I see Mundine by wide UD...we still dont know how good Geale is until he fights a top 10 guy.

We know how good mundine is because he beats top 25's but gets beaten against top 5's.

Has Geale faced anybody in the top 25 yet?

Nah mate, Ajetovic was only up near 50 i think.

Geale would have more trouble with a top level pressure fighter right now than Mundine.
