Bourgas, Bulgaria - DREAM middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi will make his light heavyweight debut on May 25 at DREAM.9 vs. UFC and Affliction veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.
FiveOuncesofPain.com confirmed the news Friday afternoon with Mousasi’s manager, Apy Echteld.
Mousasi, 24-2-1, has not competed since winning the DREAM middleweight Grand Prix after defeating Ronald “Jacare” Souza during the finals on Sept. 23, 2008.
Sokoudjou, 5-4, is currently on a two-fight losing streak that began at UFC 89 against Luiz Cane this past October following a second round TKO. He was defeated in his most recent fight against Renato “Babalu” Sobral during Affliction and M-1’s “Day of Reckoning” in January.

Mousasi would be such a nice add to the MW division in UFC.

They did. Soko caught life in both of those fights. Lets be real Soko is athletically blessed but for a Judoka he's ground game is utter garbage. He's like a beetle on he's back and has fallen in love with his standup. Couple this with he's horrid takedown defense and bad stamina and you have a guy who is only a front runner and good for a round. After that he's toast.

Mousasi just need to make it to the second round and he will win certainly. Soko's stamina is seriously ****. Mousasi should stop him, if the weight don't matter too much with his body

I'm looking forward to this fight to see if Mousasi is for real. He should be able to beat Soko!

agreed, i question Pikachu's hart, i think he quits when his gameplan isn't working, Mousasi should beat him.

I think Mousasi should handle Sokoudjou without too many problems. Obviously Soko has a punchers chance but still.

I'm very happy that Sergei is back in action and against a decent yet beatable fighter in Jeff Monson. When fit Sergei is easily a top 10 HW imo. My only worry is he has been looking a little fat since he came back off his injuries compared to when he was fighting in Pride.
