Odd time for this one. I wondered often why Abraham didn't get any fantasy H2H threads. Then after he loses badly...here one comes.
Fullmer was a much better bull than Arthur...a more resourceful one too, and more proactive in carrying out a fight plan. Arthur has shown that he's more inclined to do basically nothing, and lose early rounds, hoping to overcome the deficit by banking on a fading of a foe's stamina and his opponent's jaw being vulnerable to his late rounds power. Fullmer was aggressive and busy from the opening bell, and had an alternate plan "B" in terms of style..a "boxer" mode, be it awkward as hell, as in his fights with Basilio and the draw with Tiger, so he was more resourceful, as I said. Fulmer would have perhaps rsorted o plan "B" in posting a 15 round decision over Arthur, plus Gene was a veteran of the 15 round limit, and would have been far too busy, and dirtier than AA.
Abraham is lazy, Fullmer has that high workrate, better footwork and more dynamic. But Abraham has a tight defense, much stronger and has great power, shot picking and technique. Its also worth noting Abraham is practically a LHW in the ring, where as Fullmer wouldnt dehydrate anything like as much Make no mistake Abraham could KO Fullmer, and Fullmer could outwork Abraham to a decision, I wont make a pick Whats everyones picks for Abraham-Froch?
Abraham has been on the way down recently, very inactive for rounds at a time. By the by, am I the only one who thought he was on his way to a KO victory when he landed that chump shot?
No, I was thinking the same thing. Andre was getting stupid and staying in the corner and on the ropes. Arthur was also starting to land more and land some very hard shots, it was only a matter of time before there was a Taylor repeat.
Dirrell isnt Taylor he was winning 8-2 and was ahead in the 11th. Abraham had a good 10th and kd'ed Dirrell but Dirrell wasnt really close to being ko'd, he just wasnt breaking him down and couldnt get close. The chump shot was out of frustration
Fullmer actually has had trouble with fighters who could match his strength at close quarters (ie: Lausse, Fernandez) so AA could prove troublesome for him in that regard. However, AA has always had an issue with letting his hands go, and I think therein is the deciding factor. I think Fullmer's workrate and versatility/resourcefulness carries him to a decision win.
