    I did see the fight,

I assume you mean Tiger was disparaging about Fullmer

Tiger did sometimes disparage opponents who boxed him, as he had a tendency to lose such fights. He had very little mobility, but was tough as hell against anyone who slugged with him. So he crushed a Hurricane Carter and lost to a Joey Archer.

Boxing Tiger was a smart tactic for Fullmer. It was his plan B.

No doubt Tiger was the better fighter, though, head to head, although guys like Archer or Griffith might not have been able to handle Fullmer like they did Tiger.

Styles make fights and make boxing interesting.

Fullmer was always a favourite of mine to watch. Great champion, may he rest in peace.

Yes Tiger was disparaging of Fullmer whom I believe he disliked. As did Giardello.Boxing Tiger was a smart move because very, very few men could outfight him.

It was said back in Tiger's day (I didn't make it up) that "a good trombone player" could beat Tiger....referring to the motion of a jab, of course.

His interview in the Heller book "In This Corner," showed he had a great sense of humour.
