I've heard Gene described as a absolute tank of a fighter, a very, very large middleweight.

Anyone have any information on this?

Yes, fullmer along with tiger and lamotta were the strongest middleweights who ever stepped foot in the ring.

Tiger beat up Hurricane Carter, & defeated Fullmer.

    Tiger probably the strongest.

Fullmer was indeed a tank of a middleweight. It took the type of shot Robinson hit him with to get him to back off, which meant you had to knock him out cold.

Fullmer was a dreadfully ugly style. He must've been freak strong because his technique was crude.

For size I allways wondered how Randy Turpin made 160lbs.
