    12/9/1961.

Assume Griffith wins the first Paret re-match, in a WW Title Defense, and moves up
to fight Gene Fullmer for the MW crown on 12/9/1961.

(In reality Fullmer, post-fight Paret, only had 20 months left in his boxing career...the 3 Fights with Tiger)

    Who wins?????

I don't understand why you don't just pose the question: Gene Fullmer at his middleweight best versus Emile Griffith at his middleweight best? Your scenario seems unduly convoluted to me.

Griffith has too much finesse. He's also better on the inside

Because back in the olden days.....the WW Champ was expected to go after the MW Champ. (The quote about Griffith back then was,.... he was MW "upstairs", and a WW "downstairs".

Gene brings a little to much relentless pressure to this fight. And I think he scores a comfortable decision. I might not be surprised if he stopped him at this stage. I am not sure Emile would grow into a MW body for a couple of more years. But either way I think Gene beats him...but a 61 version he may well stop in the latter stages

Gene Fullmer in his best years vs Griffith at his best at middleweight, Fullmer beats him. Fullmer was ox strong and while Griffith was a heck of a fighter, Gene would be too strong and unorthodox for Griffith to handle. Fullmer was not only strong but he constantly used his strength. Coming forward like a bull and sapping opponents of their strength. Griffith was at his best as a welterweight.

Fullmer takes the best of Griff in this scenario ,and keeps coming forward. His work rate takes its toll on Griff and eventually ,about the 14 th round he finally crumbles .Fullmer a little to much for the WW.

How was Griffith able to beat Tiger twice..and appear at times to be as strong as if not stronger than Tiger...yet Fullmer is too strong for him?

Fulmer may be the strongest middleweight champ in history

Hey, I'm open to that...i sure hold G. Fullmer in high regard...as I do Tiger, that guy in my avatar, and Griffith to name just a few of my favorite weight class in my favorite era.

I guess it's the way that Fullmer utilized his strength...that artfully crude wildness, as compared to Tiger's more methodical, controlled use of his strength.
