Would the fight be held in Montana, Utah, or Nevada? If so Fullmer would win.

I am of the same opinion of him. GGG is a middleweight and as unpopular as it is to be a specialist in 1 weight he is maybe the greatest we have ever seen.

Rich, I have a tremendous respect for GGG as a great MW. Having said that I honestly think that a well rested 2 eyed Harry Greb would beat any 160 pound fighter in his prime. To beat Greb you most likely had to ko him and in his last 285 fights or so no one ever did stop him. He also spotted dozens of great heavier men weight and licked them time and again. His like we will never see again, nor his resume either...But GGG is a helluva
MW good enough to give any other MW not named Greb hell...

You might be the only one who is stunned. GGG would get at least one stoppage in 4 tires. I think GGG whips him.

Aside from Robinson, who was a blown up welter, and **** Tiger who also KO'd Fulmer did Fullmer fight another top level puncher in or near his prime????

I'd also say Robison was passed his best by 1960, which is when two of his fights with Fulmer happened.

First, Tiger didn't "KO Fullmer". Fullmer was pulled, between rounds, by his manager due to the sustained punishment, his face "a raw, bloodied mess" by one account. It wasn't a knockout at all.

Second, your insistence at calling Robinson "a blown up welter" seems strange given a) the lengths Robinson was going to by the end to make 147lbs b) his height and c) his weight!

This is Robinson versus Rocky Castellani, near his MW prime:

    http://static.boxrec.com/thumb/e/e9/Robinson-Castellani_512x.jpg/400px-Robinson-Castellani_512x.jpg

He's hardly got that"blown up" look going, does he? He weighs 160lbs. He was comfortable at that weight.

Third, that you are actually asking if Fullmer met any punchers outside of Robinson and Tiger really shows just how out of your depth you are in conversations like this. Florentino Fernandez is possibly one of the hardest punchers in MW history. I'd guess he hits harder than Golovkin, for example.

To put it in terms you would understand, he made the 100 greatest ever punchers list published by Ring. He came in above Terry McGovern and Lew Jenkins. Personally, I think that's overrating him, but he could hit harder than any of the men under discussion here, perhaps.

He faced other good punchers, but listing them feels like a real chore, especially as i'll then have to respond to your next post, which will constitute a list of fighters these men failed to knockout.

But, yeah, he faced other punchers. Got hit by them too, which is why we know he has a really good chin instead of just suspect it.

On the basis that that is my guess.

This is guesswork. Fernandez was, like Golovkin, among the most feared punchers of his era (at the weight). What Fernandez did, which Golovkin has not, is knock out durable opponents with one punch. And I mean knock unconscious a fighter who was not otherwise knocked out. See his KO of Joe DeNucci for an example.

This is what we have not seen Golovkin do yet; now he MIGHT have that type of power and he MIGHT get to prove, hence, my guess that he is not the pure puncher Fernandez was - he may yet demonstrate to be just that, however.

But i'd suggest looking into it for yourself. There's really nothing stopping you.

Add Eduardo Lausse to the punchers Fullmer met.Spider Webb could bang too.
    Blown up welters?
    They would include,Fernandez,Graziano,Lausse,Steele,Hostak.
    All top flight bangers.:good

Oh I intend to. I asked because I've only seen a couple of his less stellar performances against Carter and Tiger (unless I'm forgetting others). Thanks.

Fernandez was a hell of a puncher. But totally limited otherwise, and was considered a bit of a one handed fighter. When he caught people though Jesus.

But while he (or Lausse or whoever) arguably hit as hard as Golovkin or harder they're not really in the same class of fighter. Golovkin can cut off the ring, has solid skills, certainly has a better chin than someone like Fernandez and is more of a consistent two handed threat. Raw power rarely matters that much. Golovkin is an A grade puncher as well as an A grade finisher and that's what separates him.

What said. Given that GGG heart has yet to be tested(though I suspect he has the mettle of a duran in him; pure animal) I'm going to refrain from speculating, though I have a hunch he'd hit Fullmer like a punching bag.

Agreed, film or not of Greb there are too many who witnessed him that thought he was the greatest fighter ever I think his resume speaks volumes.

Like Hagler until GGG slows down or meets his measure the questions will be there and even after he answers his critics their will still be questions. Hagler was so dominant in his prime many opponents had to move up in weight to win a title. I think GGG may be better than MMH, tougher? unknown I think he is equally as durable but tougher will require a fight with a special fighter. I think he could quiet critics with wins over some of the 168"s. Middleweights don't have an up and comer right now to challenge GGG.
