Gene Fullmer vs George Benton

    How would this matchup go? I only saw Benton a couple of times against Carter and Allen Thomas. He was a very good fighter and trainer.

    Big mistake to underrate Fullmer.

    Very big mistake.

    I'd fancy Fullmer to win here, stunting Benton's rhythm with his awkward stylings just as he did Webb. Benton would be more patient that Spider and find more openings but I still think Fullmer has the chin, strength and odd approach to keep Benton guessing and outwork him.

    Benton was a damn good inside fighter, but Fullmer would maul there. Fullmer 10-5/9-6 type decision in a fairly uneventful fight.
