In a first go I'm not quite sure here. Marvin was so conservative in the first Vito bout and Gene was a stronger and maybe quicker version of this. Because Marvin fought this way against Duran also its reasonable to see it repeated here and that gives Gene a chance. A return bout would be a slaughter.

based on Haglers first fight with Vito I think Fulmer would be able to pressure Marvin and make this a tough fight but Marvin was talented enough and had enough power to keep Gene somewhat at bay...Tough fight but Marvin takes a close UD with his finesse

I agree with the previous post...Hagler had it a little rough with Vito? Fullmer would be even rougher...but Hag would revert to his better boxing and take the decision.

Fullmer was good enough and strong enough, I'd definitely pick him over Hagler.

The Fullmer that fought SRR and beat Basilio would have an excellent chance on out hustling Hagler and taking him into the trenches. At the same time Hagler has all the assets to beat Gene it could go either way. I think it would be an excellent matchup and no doubt would have spawned a rematch and possibly a rubber match.

It's difficult for me to pick anybody over prime Hagler @ 160. He was incredibly versatile and simply couldn't be hurt.

Hagler prob in a great fight.
Hagler if needed could also dance and stick.
Too skilled and prob an even better chin than Gene.

    What were their reaches?

For a guy that has so many apologists, you'd think there wouldn't be so many people that would dare use the Vito Antuofermo fight against Hagler.Antuofermo was soundly and decisively outboxed through the vast majority of that fight and was competitive in a couple of rounds where Hagler fought on his terms and still landed the more significant blows. The fight is as obvious an example of a robbery as you will find in boxing.

Besides,Fullmer was alot more versatile and skilled a boxer than Vito Antuofermo was.Fullmer's best strategy against Hagler would be to box and move against him rather than trying to pressure him.He could do it and it's been proven that Hagler is a significantly lesser fighter against fighters that forced him into leading and pressing the action.

Yes, Antuofuermo draw was a robbery.
