Gene Fullmer vs. Mike McCallum

I would pick Gene Fullmer by decision. I think he would out -work McCallum in the trenches with his strength ,stamina, and durability coming into play. And Gene knew how to box when he had to even though it wasn't the classic type of boxing you would see from a Ray Robinson. It was awkward yet effective boxing as he showed in the Basilio fights and the second Dick Tiger bout.

 

I think McCallum breaks him down, honestly.

Macallum on points.I think he'd match Fulmer on the inside and pick him apart whenever they were at range.

 

I dont think Fullmer has anywhere near the ability of McCallum,but he was very strong and durable ,and McCallum wasnt a big middle.Tough fight a split dec either way.

McCallum is too hard to hit flush, and too has too much chin when he does, for Fullmer to be successful.

My bet too, but only with a fairly lenient ref. If there's a Jay Nady or Joe Cortez in there McCallum picks Fullmer apart all night long.

 

The ref is going to be a major factor in this fight.
