[yt]Wr3e1uz5Wnk[/yt] Poor old benny paret, this fight with gene fullmer is just crazy, brave man and all,but in a way its good to see the corners and refs are slightly more clued in these days What a great figth,he looked like a damn cave man brought to life, but what great power he had Sadly benny was killed fighting Emile Griffith a year later, this bout could not have helped him at all,see how many head shots he takes And to show im not being one sided heres the loss to robinson, damn that was some left hook he throws [yt]2jeZIyjxss4[/yt]
That robinson left hook is THE most relaxed ,smooth and beautiful one punch ko you could ever wish to see. Pure timing plus wonderful technique, reduced a granite chinned great fighter to rubble.
I saw the Fullmer-Paret fight "live" on TV back in the old days. It was brutal....back then the welterweight champ (or top contender) would move up and take on the Middleweight champ for pride & money. Fullmer was way too big and strong for Paret and just beat him up. Fullmer made those type of statements in various books. Most boxing historians know the relation between this fight and the 3rd Griffith-Paret fight.
Gene Fullmer in Ring Magzine on who they hit harder, or been hit harder, ete. Many years ago, round 95 or 96, said he hit Paret harder than any one.
