I am doing research into the career of the late Detroit lightweight contender Gene Gresham. He was a former National AAU lightweight champion and boxed professionally between 1957-1968. He made the Top 10 Worldwide ratings of the NBA (WBA) and the Ring magazine. He headlined nationally televised boxing cards and fought World Champions like Eddie Perkins and Carlos Hernandez. His manager shot his trainer to death and then the former later committed suicide. I know that Gene died on his birthday in 2000 at 62 but can find no details of his death. I would welcome hearing from anyone with information about Gene, his manager Forrest Foster or his trainer John "Wimpy" Elliott. Thank you.
