A tight fight in my opinion mate. I give the edge to Tunney, his fights with Greb showed how good he was. Tunney by slight points win
I rank Tunney slightly higher p4p and think that of their respective HW incarnations, Tunney was marginally the bigger man. Best for best at LHW it's close to 50/50. Gun to my head? I'd favour Tunney. Best for best at HW I'd favour Tunney with a little more confidence.
i guess conn's best shot would be to ruffle gene pre fight and do everything to make it a war. are we using modern or period ref?
Tunney is too wooden for Conn. He had no swerve, appealing to those who like everything linear and easier to mentally digest. Conn by UD, hurting Tunney late in the fight.
Tunney's advantages in natural size & firepower give him an edge in an otherwise very evenly matched contest IMO.
Really? Tunney was bigger and harder hitting than Conn, as well as being as durable & tough as they come. Tunney was typically a box-puncher, rather than the pure boxer-mover he was vs the bigger and relatively huge punching Dempsey.
why is suggesting the best strategy for the underdog some crazy thing where u need to talk to me like i'm some **** who said something stupid?
Anyone else think Conn's and Greb's fighting style would be similar? Greb was described as a windmill of punches, and nothing else fits that description as well as Conn's strings of punches in the later rounds of Louis vs Conn 1. Both were Pittsburg fighters. 50/50 fight.
I didn't address you like that at all. I questioned your proposed strategy and provided a rationalisation for that questioning. Never mind, though, I had no intention of, and have no desire to, offend or belittle you, so forget I quoted your post.
Hi Buddy. You have overreacted to Gregs post, he didn't insult you, or undermind your point of view, if you believe he did, let me tell you here and now he didn't, you must be pretty thin skinned to believe you was insulted, you have been a member for a very long time, so you must have seen much, much worse, maybe you were having a bad day, or not in the right frame of mind, we have all been there, no disgrace in that, but I believe Greg deserves an apology, and I would urge you reflect on your response, and do the right thing, of all the rude, arrogant, posters this forum carries, he is definitely not one of them, borne out by his polite words at the end of his post, that said you are a good poster, and thus far have enjoyed your contributions. stay safe kingfisher3, and lets chat soon.
