After winning a decision over Jack Dempsey in July of 1927,the Boston Gob now gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship himself. Scheduled for 10 rounds, how will Sharkey do against the fighting marine, Gene Tunney?
Despite my reservations regarding his heavyweight resume, I have to go with Tunney. He just never learned to lose. There's a mentality there that I don't think Sharkey possessed.
V true mcvey, who knows really with Sharkey? I wouldn't feel confident ever putting down money on him.
We would have to favor Tunney as being much more consistent. However, if there was anybody left who could beat him, then it was Sharkey!
I dont think Sharkey was poised enough. He really had all the tools but he was his own worst enemy. He reminds me of a more successful Golota.
I agree with his consistency I'd favor Tunney overall. But if we could get the best version of each, I'd pick Sharkey
