Tunney handily. Patterson can’t outbox him & won’t knock him out, either. He’s giving up everything here sans handspeed & power. Tunney in a moderately competitive affair, maybe a 9-6, 9-5-1?

I think Tunney would reign combos and counter Floyd into submission by round 12-14

Love Floyd but I absolutely agree with you here, although I actually would remove the "moderately" adjective, I think Patterson especially the post-title Patterson would give a very good account of himself and would be quite capable of springing the upset.

    “Can’t”

why can’t he? Patterson had a style and tools that Gene never seen before in his life.

Gene fought short slow white men who kept their hands by their waist. These men didn’t know how to move their upper body, or throw punches in combinations outside of a retired gassed Dempsey

Floyd was innovative in bringing a very dangerous high guard peek a boo style into boxing. Floyd threw combinations with speed that was unmatched, Floyd threw triple jab combinations, Floyd mixed up the head and body with combinations, Floyd moved his head and upper body bobbing and weaving with grace…

Tunney’s opponents on film looked like vacationing street car conductors compare to Floyd.

Patterson was faster, hit harder and beat better heavyweights. Plus, he had a left hook reminiscent of a guy who KO'd Tunney.

And he was black, which scared Tunney to his core.

    Ha!

OK. But Tommy Gibbons was great long before Tunney got to him in Tommy's final fight.

SuzieClown is here to tell us all that all you need to defeat Tunney is a mean enough tan.

It was all you needed to guarantee you would never fight Tunney. We know that much.

Well that certainly counts for a lot in a fantasy setting where you’re discussing the fight as it would happen, doesn’t it?

I wasn’t aware mythical match ups now began at the negotiating table.

None relevant to how a fight in a ring would play out. Issues that do affect ring performance get glossed over for other fighters day & night.

If a man shows me a certain weakness, I calculate it into the calculus of calamity.
