Tunney would probably take the win but in a more difficult way because Chuvalo would manage to stay on his feet until the end of the fight...
We already saw a version of this fight when Ellis fought Chuvalo, and I see no reason why a second version would turn out differently.
In beating a 1969 Quarry, Chuvalo holds the best victory, head to head, of either at heavyweight. If this is for 15, I see George winning. Tunney is mostly smoke and mirrors at heavyweight, especially when comparing to modern fighters.
Chuvalo had trouble with just about any good boxer he faced throughout his entire career -- Baker, McMurtry, Erskine, Alongi, Folley, Corletti, Ali, Mathis, Ellis, and it would be no different against a craftsman like Tunney.
I disagree .. Tunney was exceptionally well conditioned, lighting fast, had an excellent , terrific speed , a good right hand and wa a terrific body puncher. I think the Dempsey he beat in Chicago is better than anyone Quarry defeated and Quarry himself. I like Chuvalo but he loses every round to Tunney ..
The Dempsey who was getting schooled by the middling Sharkey before landing an egregious low blow, the Dempsey was cum-drained and two steps slow after half a decade in Hollywood laying pipe rather than boxing? He couldn't have carried prime Quarry's jock. Chuvalo is too much man for Tunney.
