could Foreman do better than Peralta and as good a Jimmy Young YES, did Tunney survive a puncher like Foreman, Yes.....Foreman could KO anyone who he hit solid with more than one punch but Tunney got past Dempsey and Tunney had the wheels to do it....I fear guys like Tunney and Walcott for Foreman but Big George could get you early....Tunney much more skilled, Foreman very strong tough pick, tough fight, I would like to see the odds but dont sell Tunney short especially over a prime stamina short foreman
So you use the highest weight of a past prime tunney and the lowest weight of young to insinuate that it were their real weights lmao. What a bunch of trash your argument.prime tunney weighed 175 pounds AnD prime young 213 period.dont be ridiculous. Duplicate what? Losing twice against a green foreman?
1- as much i love jack, dempsey he never could even dream hitting as hard as foreman. 2- tunney faced a shot dempsey and still jack did put his ass in the floor. 3- are you comparing a peak 73-74 forman with a 1927 dempsey? Uh?
Ahhhh Klompton is hyping up Tunney to nuthug Greb, how predictable. How do you think Greb does against Foreman Klompton?
Every man with 2 hands have chance my friend. But i would not put a cent con tunney here. Gene is getting too much credit for beating a shot dempsey. It is like saying that michael spinks was a force at hw because he did beat a past prime version of holmes
What makes you say that Tunney had passed his prime when he fought at heavyweight? I'm no expert on the era, but I've never seen anyone claim that before.
I don't think it's a ludicrous mismatch in favour of Foreman, for sure. You can make a case for Tunney who was a great boxer with a good right hand. Prime George was a beast with crazy power but he was wild with shocking stamina. Tunney would be walking a tightrope all night, though. It depends on how he minimizes the inside action, I suppose. If Foreman makes his strength tell, Gene is in huge trouble.
Foreman wasnt exactly a boxing genius. He fought one way and if that one way failed he had no plan B and not very good stamina. That could be a problem against a guy who was as talented, tough, and conditioned as Tunney.
I was obviously intoxicated when I posted that! I meant Tunney. Everyone knows Dempsey never fought Greb.
Except a case can be made that Holmes won that first fight with Spinks... Holmes definitely won the rematch in my opinion. Long count? Please, Tunney was able to continue well before 10 seconds... you go by the refs count anyway.
