I’m guessing Tunney will be the favourite, but I’m not so sure who to pick here, I’m guessing the consensus will that ‘Tunney’s better versatility of movement with the upper body will mean that he can find ways around the ‘stiffness’ of Harold Johnson, by moving his body one way, throwing a punch the other, like slipping slightly to his left and coming straight up with an upjab, by preoccupying one side/angle, then throwing a punch the other and because of the ‘stiff guard and stance’ of Johnson means that he can only really defend one angle of attack at a time. Although personally, I think Harold Johnson has a bit better technique and is probably slightly bigger, but this would be one of the all time chess matches, would the better fundamentals and schooling of Johnson win, or would the more variety of angle of attack from Tunney be able to find its way round the textbook guard of Johnson? Who wins this matchup?
I'd bet on Johnson. His resume is deeper and much broader. He wasn't afraid to fight certain "types" of fighters and includes Charles and Moore and Bivins in his win ledger (yes, Moore is also in his loss side). He looks better on film, too. I take him to stop Tunney mid-rounds.
