A real toss up here. Tunney is a bit more aggressive and hits harder. Harold is the better boxer. A real toss up.I gotta go with Harold since I know the man.
walcott was a much different style than tunney, harder puncher, and bigger at 195lb compared to tunneys 175lb. i like johnson in this one because of his jab
Johnson was a fine boxer precise and accurate but cautiousand essentially a counterpuncher,he fed off his opponents moves,Tunney would stab in the jab ,get on his bike and move ,I dont think he would give Johnson enough to work with,Archie Moore complained about Johnson"he makes you do all the work". Tunney would be constantly mobile ,he would be gone before Johnsons counter could land ,an interesting fight for the purists but not a barn burner,Tunney by dec.
A close decision for Tunney. But really a draw might be the result, as they sort of cancel each other out with class boxing.
I lean in this direction myself. This could well resemble Pastrano/Johnson. To have a chance against Tunney, it was either imperative to take the initiative (Greb), or slip his jab and stun him with a massive counterpunch (Dempsey). As technically sound as Johnson was, neither of these traits were part of his routine modus operandi.
