I really haven’t seen enough of Wills to make an honest analysis. But he DID handle a lot of great boxers like Langford among others. Tunney of course was very slick and rarely lost. I’m wondering if officiating will dictate the outcome because frankly this is a very close fight
In his autobiography Tunney stated that he wanted to fight against Wills. But anyway, it's a fantasy fight.
I’m suspect of Wills, only because his resume is so saturated with repeat opponents. Not his fault of course, as he couldn’t secure the big match and many avoided the man. But I have hard time believing that all those round robins where he fought the same opponents 4,5,6 times were all on the level.
Prime for prime I would pick Wills on a fair scorecard, in a mess. Timeline, I think Tunney was sumitting at just the right moment.
I am sure that he would have done, if it had been made clear to him that he would not get a title shot otherwise.
IMO Tunny handles him for a UD based largely in part what I read about Wills and what I saw in Tunney
Tunny more adept at delivering the 3 traditional box punch and was a better applicator of movement than the crude Willis. Gene would beat this guy
