Jersey is certainly a top 50 HW but I don't see him beating Tunney.

Walcott was a defensive minded guy, who had fast feet, and was excellent on the counter. Put him in there with guys who were slower footed or open to being hit ( Louis or Marciano ) and he could look great.

Walcott was also one of those hot and cold types without a top chin to recover from mistakes.

Tunney was an excellent boxer and mover and underrated body puncher with top level ring smarts. I see him out throwing and landing Wlacott. Could be a boring fight with a few moments in it that boxing purists would appreciate.

    Tunney UD

This would not be the chess match that some people think it would.

Tunney would probably take the offensive, and Walcott would probably try to draw him into traps.

It could end up looking like the first Walcott Charles fight in places, with some good action.

Not sure I see Tunney going on the offensive with Walcott, but you could be right. I get the feeling that once Tunney felt his punches.. he might think twice about going on the offensive. You're right though... It could very well turn into a Charles vs. Walcott kind of fight.

Yeah I think it will be a bit more of a brawl than people imagine. I do think Tunney is favourite but you can never write off Jersey who's a top 50 HW

Charles beat Walcott twice, since I think Tunney is a better heavyweight than Charles ,I go for Tunney by decision.

Great matchup! JJW is underrated. I see him as an enhanced version of Jimmy Young: fitter, smarter, trickier, and packing KO power. That being said, I'm picking Gene because I think that he was the greatest.

Tunney never fought a heavyweight as good as Walcott. You can't say the same in reverse.

Tunney had speed and skills to match Walcott with, I say his fundamentals make the difference here and he takes the decision.

Fighting them is one thing, beating them another.
Walcott never beat a great heavyweight ,Tunney did twice.
    I don't see Tunney losing to :
    Rex Layne
    Elmer Ray
    Johnny Allen

Walcott beat Ezzard Charles so they both have wins over great heavyweights.
