Very difficult fight for Sonny I think, but my guess is he catches up with a retreating Gene and finishes him at some point.

    yea that's kinda funny
tunney jabbed dempsey's head off,but dempsey really didn't even had a jab
liston is far more proven than tunney
people say liston had trouble with movers, yet he won against all of them except clay(who i think is quite better than gene)
but gene never fought a powerhouse with a great jab like sonny so he is the one who is unproven

I don't think this is so outrageous, but I don't think it would happen either. I thnk Liston would land at a certain range and I think Tunney would land at a certain range. I don't think either jab would dominate the fight in a "battle of the jabs" type of sense, I just think that Liston's jab is dominant. There isn't any type of warefare where the range of your guns doesn't have an enormous affect on the type of war that is waged.

Additionally, Gene's jab brings him into range of Liston's short-arm punches - Liston's most compact shots.

i think sonny could win this fight just from boxing outside with that ramrod jab of his?certainly i can't see tunney outboxing him with such a size disadvantage.also when he gets hit with those long jabs,he may just fight to survive
