Perry said: ↑ Tunney, moving and sliding and to his left, deftly outboxes Frazier for the decision win. Tunney is conditioned for the 15 round distance and Joe can never get a consistent offense going. Met too. Did someone hack into Perry's account. I like Tunney here. Gene was very tough, an excellent mover, smart, skilled, durable, and hit harder than given credit for. UD for Tunney, who is a better LaStarza, a fighter that gave Marciano all sorts of trouble.
I think Tunney would outpoint the Marciano pre LaStarza 2...but at the time of the 2nd LaStarza fight, Marciano had sharpened up a better crouching defense...I think Marciano would get to Tunney.. Best v Best versions of both...is very close. If Marciano were to win this, he would have to press very hard...but he demonstrated the determination and the motor to fight that way. What makes this so interesting is that Tunney was so good at judging distance, and very mobile...and Marciano's weaving style was so hard to gauge, and he carried late fight power...Great fight.
The idea would be that he clearly dominated a far greater bobbing and weaving fighter in Dempsey. No reason to believe he would not do even better vs Marciano.
