Slattery was a clever hands down by your sides boxer I would't call him a puncher .Tunney did beat Carpentier who had 57 kos in 88 wins, many of them over heavyweights.
Sorry Loewe, after the post i made here, i havent been on the internet for a few days, been busy. I dont know who would have the clear edge in a chess match, not sure there would be such an edge actually. I always think that Tunney is much more rugged than people generally think, in today's era, this can be seen on some footage. I think Tunney would likely be the aggressor, as Spinks would be trying to box and use that hand speed, Tunney can win this imo, but he may need to land a big punch and follow up on it, which he can do, he was very persistent when going after his man, with the left-right one-two. I just take Spinks to edge him, with that awkward movement and fast hands nicking it, might be wrong though.

I like Tunney here by a UD, Gene was faster of hand and foot and had a good punch as well, had good recupritive power...Michael was a rugged lightheavy, tough but I see Gene winning it with a busier workrate
Well, I think Tunney has the slight edge in power and a bigger edge in ring generalship that would decide the outcome of that fight. They are very close so in a fight very little could make the difference. In a three fight series I would expect Tunney to win two and Spinks to win 1.
I think Michael edges Gene in fights at both weights, probably a stronger advantage for him at light heavyweight, where he fought in one of the most talent-ladden divisions in the history of light heavyweight. And he has Eddie Futch in his corner, major advantage.
Funny enough, if not for a long count who knows if this vaunted Tunney would've won the fight let alone finished the fight eh?
tunney got up in time. that's all that matters. there is no more reason to think otherwise than to think that douglas was counted out against tyson
