But Sharkey's explanation was he saw a ghost !
I guess he was auditioning for Hamlet then.

He was so good at acting that he let Primos left connect to his grill without even flinching.

Yes, I think he had Lee Strasberg working his corner that night.

Top 4 best Italian HW's. Marciano, Damiani, Savarese, Carnera. So he's #4 on my list.

When they told Jack to go down in round 6 from a hard straight right he replied saying "lol, watch this..."

He bounced off the ropes into a forearm smash like a big phoney rassler.
Every boy growing up wants to do that sometime in a Madison Square Garden production, and that dream never dies, even when you're heavyweight boxing champeeeeeen of the world.

He saw "a vision of Ernie Schaaf," or was it Jacob Marley ,or the Ghost of Xmas Past?

Tunney would have only enhanced his overall standing as a heavyweight champion if he had hung around for a while. He could have only fought Schmeling and Sharkey, and IMO would have beaten them both...but I think he would have beaten all the champions that preceeded Louis. Carnera he would have systematically destroyed,...in the way I just posted,...and Baer and Braddock he would have soundly outpointed...another day in the office vs both. He would have been retired long before Louis came along.

Between Marciano and the rest of them in that list, you could fit in two Grand Canyons.
