But nobody's forcing them to drain down to cruiserweight. They must think a lot more highly of those very large HWs than you do.

Cruiserweight is currently a stacked division where the top fighters are facing off more than in any other division in years. Anyone taking issue with the current crusierweights is not following the sport closely.

Cruiserweight division is one of the best in boxing right now. I prefer their mix of size, power and athleticism to the dreadnoughts.

Conversely, the moribund heavies (and that division has almost always been moribund since day 1) are ruled by guys who could never sniff cruiser. Fury, Wilder, Ortiz, Joshua, Miller, Pulev... There doesn't seem to be a force in there now, or recently, who could have also been a cruiser.

If cruiserweight makes sense for the reasons cited in 1980, surely there should be TWO cruiserweight divisions now.

Modern cruiserweights are the same weight as Ali, Holmes, Shavers etc. ..... 210 - 220 pounds in the ring.
That's the size of heavyweight cruiserweight was supposedly protecting smaller fighters from.

Of course, we have a situation where the modern 186 pounder fights at 175 or 168 division.
But the cruiserweight division has been raised to 200 (weigh in) ..... so what about the fighter who's no bigger than, say, 192 pounds but simply cannot dehydrate himself down to 175 pounds ? Or anyone around that size who is ineffective at 175 pounds ?
    The problem persists.

light heavy is 175, then the next division up is cruiser at 200. Surely we need a junior-cruiser division at 185.

Cruiserweight has inched-up in time from 190 lbs to 200 lbs....25 lbs heavier than Lightheavy.
Read in a few places that there are those who now want a "Super-Lightheavyweight Division" below
    "Crusierweght".
